Have you heard about the organization called Icing Smiles? A few months ago I saw a fellow cake friend post an adorable cake she did for Icing Smiles.
Volunteering is something I love to do when I can, so I checked out their page. Icing Smiles coordinates with bakers and pairs you with a local family that has requested a cake for a special occasion. The cakes are donated to families with children who have been impacted by a critical illness. It’s super easy to apply and it’s an opportunity to contribute to a very worthy cause. It’s such a privilege to be able to share in these precious moments and create happy memories for a special family.
I was fortunate to be called this weekend to create a cake for Ulises, a boy who is affected by muscular dystrophy and is in a wheelchair. He requested Real Madrid soccer team cake- I loved this theme 🙂 I’d like to give a special shout out to my mom who bought all the supplies to make the cake, helped me bake, color fondant, and even helped me deliver the cake. We make a great team!
Check out Icing Smiles, even if you aren’t a baker you can donate to sponsor cakes! It’s truly a meaningful organization!
